Katie Everett completed her master’s degree with Dr. Quenton Tuckett and Dr. Jeff Hill. Her thesis research focused on the non-native Tropical Clawed Frog, which have established a small population in Hillsborough County, FL. The goal of her project was to control the clawed frog population by stocking their breeding sites with Eastern Mosquitofish, a small and aggressive native fish.
Katie earned her B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida in 2020. While there, she worked in the herpetology range of the Florida Museum of Natural History for two and half years, where she re-discovered a love of all things reptilian and amphibian. Towards the end of her degree, she also found that she had a growing enthusiasm for fish. In pursuit of that interest, she participated in research on the historical expansion of Common Snook in the northern Gulf of Mexico.
When not at the TAL, she can usually be found in or around any given body of water, swimming, looking for frogs and turtles, or perhaps just engrossed in a book.
