Shelby Thomas is a Ph.D. candidate in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at the University of Florida. With an M.S. in Marine Ecology, Shelby has worked on over 25 marine restoration projects including coral, seagrass, oyster, sea-urchin, and scallop restoration. She continues to conduct research in restoration and conservation.
Shelby is an environmentalist and marine conservation advocate who is passionate about preserving our natural ecosystems and hopes to inspire others to protect our environment. She founded the Ocean Rescue Alliance, a marine conservation and restoration nonprofit organization with a mission to provide artificial structure to enhance marine environments, build marine habitat, conduct restoration, protect coastlines and connect communities through art. She would like to make a lasting impact, conserving our environment while also improving the lives of people around the world.
