Maribeth Eslava

Maribeth joined the UF/IFAS Tropical Aquaculture Lab in 2023 as a biological scientist supporting graduate student research through the production of microalgae and copepods. Her interest in the microscopic world of phyto & zooplankton began when she took her first courses in aquatic botany and marine invertebrate zoology as an undergraduate at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL.

Maribeth received her B.S. in Marine Biology from the University of West Florida in 2019 and went on to work for Seaventure Clam Co. in Fort Pierce, where she learned to culture microalgae as part of hard clam Merceneria merceneria husbandry. She continued to culture microalgae as feed for Pacific White Shrimp larva (Litopenaeus vannamei) while employed at Primo Broodstock's SPF shrimp breeding facility in Mims, FL.

In her free time, Maribeth enjoys snorkeling, reading, and spending time with her husband and two kids (cats) Friday & Salem.
