Alumni

Degree Obtained: Ph.D. (2020)
Major Professor: Dr. Matt DiMaggio

Taylor Lipscomb completed his Ph.D. at the University of Florida Tropical Aquaculture Lab (TAL) under Dr. Matt DiMaggio. His research at TAL encompassed live feed alternatives in the production of larval ornamental fish with an emphasis on digestive enzyme ontogeny and metabolic profiling as tools to assess nutritive quality. Prior to coming to TAL, Taylor worked for 5 years as a Fish Culture Specialist for Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks raising westslope cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, kokanee salmon and chinook salmon. For his Master’s degree, he studied the mode of vertical transmission of Flavobacterium psychrophilum (the etiological agent of bacterial coldwater disease) in captive westslope cutthroat trout.

After graduation Taylor became the Supervisory Fish Biologist and Hatchery Manager for the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Livingston Stone National Fish Hatchery in Shasta Lake, California.  Taylor is now the National Hatchery Operations Coordinator for the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
