Dr. Kathleen Hartman is an Aquaculture Epidemiologist for the United States Department of Agriculture--Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS), Veterinary Services stationed at the University of Florida Tropical Aquaculture Laboratory.  She has a Master of Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD.  Her Masterís thesis research topic was in hybrid striped bass nutrition and phosphorous utilization.  She also has a veterinary degree and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA.  Her doctorate research was on oxytetracycline (OTC) pharmacology in summer flounder maintained a different salinity levels and health status.  Currently, she works closely with ornamental fish producers, faculty at the University of Florida, area veterinarians, statisticians and economists to assist in diagnosis and control of exotic and domestic diseases of ornamental fish stocks and other aquatic animals.  She also has a courtesy assistant professor faculty position at the University of Florida, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences.
