Spring Viremia of Carp (SVC)

The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection
Service (APHIS)
interim rule on importation of
SVC-susceptible species is effective as
of October 30, 2006. The rule
establishes regulations to restrict the
importation into the United States of live
fish, fertilized eggs, and gametes of fish
species that are susceptible to spring
viremia of carp (SVC).

checklist has been
developed to assist Florida importers of
aquatic animals susceptible to SVC.

Health Certificates:
Registration of Aquaculture Establishments
Shipping to the European Union (EU):
- The USDA
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service
(APHIS) is now registering aquaculture
establishments eligible to export live fish,
mollusks, their eggs and/or gametes to the
European Union.
- As of
June 2009, the following countries are
members of the European Union (EU):
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic,
Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany,
Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia,
Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland,
Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom
