Induction Spawning Workshop (Printer-friendly

This workshop includes both classroom
training and field work. Classroom
lectures include a discussion and
explanation of hormone induction.
Hands-on field work includes anesthetizing,
weighing, catheterizing, and injecting fish;
calculating dosages; microscopically
evaluating eggs; egg stripping; milt
extraction; egg fertilization; egg
hardening; and various egg hatching
techniques.

May 13 - 14, 2008 This two-day workshop provides an
opportunity for fish farmers to learn about fish health
management through lectures and hands-on wet
labs. Lecture topics include:
basic introduction to fish, fish biology,
and fish physiology; introduction to fish
health management principles; water quality;
pathogens (parasites, bacteria, viruses, and
fungi); and treatments. Hands-on wet
labs include: water chemistry testing;
fish anatomy and necropsy; and how to check

Restricted Use Pesticide Training and
Testing (Printer-friendly
flyer)

The training portion of this workshop will
include a discussion of the general
standards for pesticide applications (parts
of the label, record keeping, personal
protective equipment, mixing & handling,
storage & disposal of containers, and
environmental safety) as well as a
discussion of restricted use pesticides
labeled for ornamental aquaculture (Bayluscide,
Dimilin, Karmex, & Rotenone).
Following the training, the Core test and
the Private Applicator category test will be
administered. For those who already
have the Restricted Use Pesticide license, 2
CEUs for the Core and 2 CEUs for the Private
Applicator category are being requested.
